This film restages a manifesto by autism rights activist Amanda Baggs. In the
performance I re-speak Bagg’s text directly, mimetically reproducing the voice of her Speech Generation Device (SGD). The text is excerpted from the second part of her video manifesto titled “In my Language” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnylM1hI2jc). The first part is communicated without spoken language (in her language), while the second part of is translated through an SGD computer: “It is only when I type something in your language that you refer to me as having communication.” It was shot at the Silver Platter, camera by A.L. Steiner.
